Happiness and gummy bears

It is not enough to just say, "just be happy." Sometimes, you really have to work on finding your happiness. Ask yourself who makes you happy? What makes you happy? Either one, can help you decide how to become a happier person.

I personally find happiness by crossing items of my never ending to do list. I find pleasure in writing in my diary, (yes, I still keep one, I have two volumes completed), incentives at work, baking cupcakes, walking dogs, painting my nails,etc. I discover relief after exercise.

These can be consider life's simple pleasures, but what really makes me happy is the time I can spend alone in silence. The world can be a noisy place, where I do not even realize where my day went, because I was too busy doing other things. "Look at us, running around. Always rushed, always late. I guess that's why they call it the human race." This is a movie quote from, The Switch. I suppose it is good to laugh at ourselves and try not to take life too seriously. However, maybe running around aimlessly is apart of finding true happiness?

I remember as a kid, how happy I was eating a happy meal. Imagine that, a meal that is named, happy? If I ate one now, I would mostly likely not be happy, because I would still be hungry and would not even have a cool toy to show off afterwards.

When I was a baby, my twin sister and I loved gummy bears. It was our favorite candy. Well, our siblings have reiterated numerous of times, my twin, cried her eyes out, because our parents would not buy us gummy bears! If you are not happy, scream until someone listens to make it better.

If only eating your favorite candy was the cure to maintain our happiness. For now, I do have a video that makes me smile. After all, smiling is a reflection of being happy.

Sunny days

So yesterday, I decided playing in the sun with adoptable dogs would be the best use of my time. I was right, but then remembered my other items on my to do list i.e. homework. Luckily, I woke up today, with a more productive attitude. I went to walk some more dogs today, had a staff meeting, and completed my homework. As is well for now.

There is a quote that has resonated with me that I heard in while I was an undergraduate student by Tom Petty. "The work never ends, but college does." This was the ending of the original quote that stated, "You have four years to be irresponsible here. Relax. Work is for people with jobs. You'll never remember class time, but you'll remember time you wasted hanging out with your friends. So, stay out late. Go out on a Tuesday with your friends when you have a paper due Wednesday. Spend money you don't have. Drink 'til sunrise."

I suppose I really like this quote, because in a lot ways it is true. Now, that I am in graduate school, I do reminisce of the times I was with my friends. We were all pursuing our goal to graduate, grow up, and work for the rest of our lives. Most of my friends have either continued their education, got married, moved away, or started families.

It is scary and exciting how fast time goes by. So, I figured why not go outside and enjoy the weather? My to do list will never end and homework will just simply turn into work eventually. I recommend to that everyone take sometime to play outside, unless you are no longer a kid at heart. If you are, I will be outside again tomorrow at 3:00pm.

Sunny Sunday

It is now 1:15am Monday, March 28th, however I want to share my beautiful Sunday with you. This was my second day volunteering to walk sheltered dogs. The dog in the picture is named Elf. He was a really sweet and calm creature. We walked for about an hour.

It was windy today, but the sun was still shining. I made sure to wear sunscreen, shimmer lotion and shades! For the rest of the day, I spent it avoiding my homework. However, I have a really clean apartment now as well as some clean clothes.

I'm not proud that I procrastinated doing my homework, but it was too lovely of a day to stay inside. I hope you too were able to enjoy the sunshine. I also want to mention something I learned from observing Elf today. He kept stopping at tumbleweeds to smell and investigate them. Which made me realize, I too should stop and take the time to look around and smell the roses, or in this case tumbleweeds. Until next time.

I am really excited about the weather here in Southern New Mexico. Minus the wind, the sunshine feels so nice on my skin. My three must have items for the season: sunscreen, sunglasses, and shimmer lotion!

Sunscreen is important to keep my skin beautiful and protected. Sunglasses are great to keep those crows feet away, and shimmer lotion is just wonderful to add some bling to your skin.

When enjoying the sun, don't forget to drink lots of water! Tomorrow I will be enjoying the sun with my four-legged friends. I am a volunteer dog-walker in my community. I will post pictures soon!
